New Beginnings and Let’s Stay Connected
by davidbrommer
A new dawn, a rubicon crossed, and the saga continues seemingly anew. After 26 years to the day, on Halloween I resigned my position at B&H Photo to pursue photography full-time. As we enter the final days of 2023 I have put many irons in the fire and I’m thrilled to see them bear fruit in the form of workshops in 2024 of which I’ll be announcing shortly.
As all intrepid things are, this has been an adventure. I’m now in my 56th year and many emotions, recollections, and considerations flow endlessly across my consciousness. I’ve learned so much, and stand dumbfounded sometimes in the stories of my life. Little details, like the longing I have for an email from the actor Alan Arkin who passed this year, and oddly enough, was a fan of my blog. I’m looking at building blocks I have built my life with and realize that those blocks can be further utilized to build an even bigger life. What is bigger? I’d say that bigger means more communication. More sharing, more photographs, more words.
If you are into photography, if you are into making photographs, if you are a “serious” person then I’m going to ask you join my mailing list so you don’t miss one single super cool and deeply photographic thing that will be introduced in the coming months.

So exciting to be stretching out to new horizons! I would see Alan Arkin around town here and he had as dry a humor in person as on camera. And, he was a real mensch!
Indeed it is exciting! I count my blessings, thank you. Alan was a rare breed, we were lucky to have him in our orbit. I know we speak for many in this sense. But… much like my father, he had a darn great long life!
